A tidy wardrobe saves time and nerves in the morning. Who doesn’t know the feeling: standing in front of the closet and finding nothing, even though it’s full. With a few simple tricks, you can bring order and keep an overview.
Take everything out, then sort
Sounds radical, but it works best. Lay all your clothes on the bed and sort them into three categories: keep, donate, dispose. Be honest: if you haven’t worn it in over a year, you probably don’t need it. Fewer items mean more space and better organization.
Create categories
Group by type: tops, pants, dresses, shoes, accessories. Within each category, sort by occasion or season. Summer dresses and light cardigans go to the back in winter. Winter jackets do the same in summer.
The right storage
Not everything belongs on a hanger. Knitwear and sweaters are better folded to avoid stretching out. Pants can be hung on pants hangers to save space. Scarves and shawls fit well in drawers or storage boxes.
The capsule wardrobe principle
A reduced wardrobe with well-coordinated pieces makes daily dressing easier. Focus on neutral basics: a good pair of jeans, a few versatile sets, classic shoes. Add a few standout pieces for special occasions.
Proper shoe storage
Shoes need air. Avoid stacking them on top of each other. Boots keep their shape if you stuff them with newspaper or boot shapers. Loafers and flat shoes fit well on a shoe rack.
Regular decluttering
Plan a quick check every three months. Does everything still fit? Is everything in good condition? This ritual prevents chaos from building up again. And it creates space for new favorite pieces from the current collection.
A tidy wardrobe is not a one-time action. It’s a habit worth developing. Start small, keep at it.
